The General Transport Conditions for Streetcar and Bus Transport and the Regular Transport Service with Motor Vehicles (from February 27, 1970), and the Special Transportation Conditions for Bus Travel to and from Berlin are applicable. The BERLIN LINIEN BUS GmbH and its representatives function only as travel agents for all bus lines and assume no liability.

The published timetables and fares are only excerpts from the respective permit documents and exist only for promotional purposes. The holder of the respective permit(s) or the transport company assume responsibility for content. If foreign transport companies are employed and European Union law is not applicable, the respective national rules apply.

1. Tickets
All passengers require a valid ticket. The claim to transportation exists, according to the Passenger Transport Law, when a seat reservation has been made through an affiliated reservation office. For the departure journey this is normally arranged when buying the ticket at a travel agency. The reservation for the return journey can also be made with postcards, which are available from the travel staff. In this case a seat is considered reserved when the postcard arrives at the respective reservation office at least four days before start of the journey. The ticket is valid at the date of issue and remains valid for four months. Tickets are non-transferable.

2. Fare Discounts
Please refer to the publications available for the individual bus lines. Unless otherwise stated, children ages three or younger travel for free with a limit of one free infant fare per passenger.

3. Handicapped Passengers
There is no special fare for the handicapped. However, upon presentation of a handicapped card stating that a permanent companion is required for travel, the companion travels on national routes for free.

4. Dogs
For dogs, irrelevant of their size, the following tariff rates are applicable: The “Super-Sparticket” or the discount rate “E2”. In some cases also the “Jubelpreis” (Tariff HU) or the “Spartarif” (Tariff H1) are valid.
The transportation of dogs and other animals on seats is forbidden by law. The transport of animals is possible only for national routes, i.e. within Germany.

5. Baggage and Possessions
There is a charge of 1 Euro per piece of luggage, aside from the one carry-on allowed per passenger (not to exceed 55 x 40 x 20 cm), to be paid on the bus. A fee of 2 Euros is charged for each piece of luggage beyond the 2nd piece.
Liability for damaged luggage is limited to 1000 Euros per passenger. Registered luggage must be inspected for damage immediately upon arrival and any damages must be reported to the carrier’s staff. Later complaints will not be accepted.
Luggage of larger sizes or number, as well as bulky items such as baby carriages, bicycles, wheelchairs, toboggans, etc. must be registered with the transport company in advance and confirmed. A charge of 10 Euros per route must be paid to transport bicycles. In this case a transportation claim does not exist. Unfortunately, the transportation of bicycles is not possible for our international routes. For the transportation of luggage on international routes, other terms may apply which can be found in the bus schedule publications.

6. Fare Refund
Both processing and money transfer fees will be deducted from the refund sum according to § 10 of the General Transport Conditions.

The cancellation, change or refund of tickets which have been bought and printed (Online-Tickets), as well as discounted tickets (“Aktionspreis” tickets) is not possible.

7. Cancellation and Applicable Charges for International Travel
Processing reservations for international travel requires a great deal of work. Due to this fact, we have decided that passengers who cancel a ticket/booking contract must pay the following fees:

a. If a passenger cancels his contract at least 48 hours before departure, the cancellation charge is 25% of the ticket price, minimum 10 Euros per passenger.

b. If a passenger cancels his contract in less than 48 hours before departure, the cancellation charge is 50% of the ticket price, minimum 20 Euros per passenger.

c. If the passenger does not make the trip and does not cancel the ticket before departure date, the ticket price will not be refunded. The passenger can change the booking according to the conditions of 7.b..

d. If the passenger does not return on the booked date 7.a, 7.b and 7.c will apply to the price which the round trip exceeds the fare for a one-way trip. Such tickets have to be send to Berlin Linien Bus GmbH along with the banking details of the client.

e. Changes in bookings are handled as cancellations.

f. The passenger reserves the right to prove that the transportation costs were lower than the required costs. In this case the passenger is either not required or only obliged to pay the lower price.

8. Exclusion of Claims and Statute of Limitations
Claims for failure to provide service/transportation according to the contract must be made in writing and submitted within one month of the return date of the trip. After one month, the passenger can make a claim only if the passenger can prove that he/she was unable to make the claim due to no fault of their own.

9. Route Disclaimer
When routes published in the timetable show the reference “subject to permission by authorities”, this implies that at the time of publication of the timetable this information was not confirmed, i.e. connection routes, bus stop location, departure and arrival times, fare, etc. The reservation office will gladly inform you as to the current status of these routes.

10. Other
All regulations, divergent or complementary, apply according to the publications on single routes or performances. Passengers who travel internationally are responsible for their passport, visa, customs regulations, etc. Booked seats that are not occupied 5 minutes before departure may be given away to another passenger. The fares published herein are only valid for tickets purchased in Germany. Passport and railcard offers from the Deutsche Bahn AG are not valid. Bus routes and timetables are subject to change!
